This Christmas, why not get the season started with the nicest light-up event in town – the Westwoodside Pond Lights light-up event. On the first Friday of every December, the village of Westwoodside, and friends and family, head to the pond for early evening – there’s live music, hot food, a decent bar with hot mulled wine, beer, prosecco, hot drinks, assorted stalls (previously posh coffees, freshly baked cakes, LED light up toys, gin stall, and much more). Not forgetting the special guest of the evening: Santa Claus, himself! Santa usually turns up no his sleigh, paraded in by the school children.
Whilst the band plays on, Santa greets children both on a walkabout around the guests, and also in his Grotto. Then the big event – the switch on, which (unofficially) marks the start of the festive period in Westwoodside. Following a count-down from Santa, the lights are switched on and the pond lit up for the whole season.
The event is free for all. Parking is available, simply park up around Westwoodside and head on in. There’s no limit to the amount of guests. The bar accepts both cash and electronic payment.
So, get yourself into the festive season, this December – head on across to the Westwoodside Pond Light up, on Friday December 2nd, early evening (exact timings to be confirmed)
